The set of skills that I'm going to teach right now are the skills that have been designed to help you with addictions.
There are a number of skills in this group. And they all have to do with how do you reduce addictive behavior.
Now my personal experience of teaching these skills, as a lot of people look at this and say, Oh, I don't need that. I don't have any addictions.
So I thought what I do, just because I'm a kind soul, was to make up a list of all the addictions that I know of, and give you a chance to look those over and see if in fact is true that you don't have any addictions.
So the first thing we do is tell you when an addiction is. So you need to know that before you can figure out if you actually have one.
Addictive behavior is behavior that you engage in repeatedly.
In other words, it's not behavior that just happens every once in a while. But it's behavior that occurs very often. And it's also behavior that's problematic.
In other words, it's not behavior that's effective, it's behavior that's ineffective or has negative outcomes for you, either short term or long term, and his behavior that when you try to stop it, you can't stop it. Okay, so if you can't stop ineffective repetitive behaviors, then it's safe to say you can think of yourself as having addictive behaviors.
So if you look at the screen, you're going to see a list reasonably long list of behaviors that are often addictive.
So right now, look at this list, and see if any of these behaviors are problem behaviors for you. Now, I want to tell you, it is completely possible that you have more than one addictive behavior. Some people just have one thing they're addicted to, but others have a lot of things they're addicted to.
Now, if you're going to do this, you're actually going to have to be honest with yourself.
It's really easy to be dishonest and say well, I could stop that if I wanted to. Well, it's not really a problem. It is not really causing me problems. So this is not going to work if you're not going to be honest.
So go ahead and look this list over and check it off. If you find even one behavior addicted to this is the program for you.
